Johannesburg. Joburg. Jozi. Egoli. Place of Gold… Call it what you want, but Johannesburg has turned into the true heartbeat of South Africa. The city has grown from a small mining outpost into the second largest city in Africa and serves as both an inspiration and leader for the continent.

(There are museums devoted to apartheid as well as to the heroes who fought against it; to gold, military and Boer history.)
