Now travelers from various JetBlue cities across the U.S. and the Caribbean can make easy connections on South African Airways from New York's JFK Airport and onward to their South African destination.

A codeshare agreement is one where one airline (the marketing carrier) places its flight number on another carrier's flights (the operating carrier). The airlines both sell seats on the flights that are included in the agreement. In this case, SAA has placed SA flight numbers on flights within the US operated by JetBlue. This offers SAA an opportunity to provide service to destinations not in our route structure.

In addition to allowing SAA to serve cities we would otherwise not be able to frequent, our codeshare partnership with JetBlue will further cement and expand on our interline agreement which makes it possible to offer one-stop-shopping for airline tickets and seamless luggage transfers along the way.

You can tell if a flight is a codeshare flight by looking for the “Operated by” note displayed after a codeshare flight number. Depending on how you make your reservation, details on which airline operates your flight will be provided by our call center staff, by your travel agency or displayed on our website when you make an online booking. In addition, this information will be printed on your electronic ticket. If you are unclear on which airline operates a specific flight, you may call us at 1-800-722-9675 for clarification.
