“African Footprint” North American Tour
Show is the First Touring Musical to Play in New Orleans since Hurricane Katrina
Fort Lauderdale, FL (Nov. 1, 2007) – South African Airways, South Africa’s flag carrier and the continent’s most awarded airline, announced its sponsorship of the “African Footprint” North American tour as part of its commitment to bring the world to Africa, and Africa to the world. The African dance and musical sensation will launch its U.S. performances in New Orleans’ Contemporary Arts Center Nov. 1, marking the first touring musical to visit the city since Hurricane Katrina, with Academy Award-winning actor Louis Gossett, Jr. on hand as host of the occasion.
“South African Airways is proud to play a role in bringing the rich African culture of African Footprint to American audiences, including to the great city of New Orleans, marking the first touring musical to play there since Hurricane Katrina. It is fitting that the tour would launch in New Orleans, a city steeped in African traditions,” said Marc Cavaliere, executive vice president, North America for South African Airways. “African Footprint celebrates all that is African, with music, dance and visuals that emotionally carry the soul to Africa’s shores. We invite people to experience the show, and then take the leap by traveling to South Africa and experiencing the excitement on African soil.”
